If one does a bit of studying, hold'em is a very easy game to not completely suck at. My theory is that anyone who genuinely wants to learn can spend one hour reading poker websites and improve to a marginally losing player. Tight prefop and semi-decent play postflop. Not a winning player, but good enough to not completely suck. Sure, there are still tons of players who play hold'em and suck, but IMO, those people have no desire to study the game. Agree or disagree?

It is also my opinion that other games such as 7stud and omaha are not as easy to learn. These games have many times more different situations than hold'em. Therefore it is much harder to play ABC poker. If one spent one hour reading websites on these games, I think they would be far from becoming a winning player. Agree or disagree?

Keeping these thoughts in mind, where to the truely sucky players play? My guess would be in omaha or stud, not hold'em. It's too easy to not suck at hold'em. While the other games require more serious study. Agree or disagree?

As a B$M player, fish don't come to the casino to make money. They come for the entertainment and the action. They know their paying for the lights and the rent and the salary of everyone in a uniform they see, but they don't care. Sure, it is easy to learn passable hold'em. I did it. But they come for the action and they didn't drive for two hours to fold rags for an hour.

Omaha and stud players suck too.

The most popular game will always attract the worst players - so, for now, Hold'em is full of fish.

If Omaha ever breaks out...be prepared for a nice surprise.

Hold'em, especially No Limit, is misleadingly simple. NLHE is actually a very complex game. The variation in betting adds a boatload of options to the game. The decision-making is not as black and white as it seems to be.

That said, I think pot-limit Omaha is the most "advanced" game intellectually. It combines NLHE-esque betting moves with the many more options of Omaha.

I think it takes about two sentences to be able to play Omaha at the level you describe:

"Play hands that can make the nuts. Draw only to the nuts."

Hold'em can't be so accurately summarized in two sentences. This of course only applies to limit Omaha.
