View Full Version : norcal vs. socal

JaBlue

so recently my friends and i (norcal natives) participated in a jazz festival in los angeles. we also went to disney land because that's fun. anyway, we light up before disney land and come to the conclusion that a) all girls outside of disneyland are sluts and b) all socal people suck i.e. typical socal surfer type. not hating on the chicks, there're quite a few hotties

anyway i was just wondering, which do you prefer? Norcal? Socal? Why? Are all socal people really bitches?

I live in SoCal, and loathe it. The people are really quite unique.

For the most part, they only care about themselves. They drive like they are the only car on the road. They have no sense of courtesy, kindness, or compassion.

But at the same time, they are always okay with you, which is generally their only redeeming quality.

And the climate sucks in SoCal.

Seriously, this is the grayest city in the world. I live really close to the beach. Gray sand. Gray buildings. Gray freeways. Gray air. Everything is gray. It's amazingly depressing. Give me rain-created green any day of the week, and twice on Saturdays.

This city is built on "what others think of me" attitude. They want to be actors. They want to look good. They don't care about inherently good traits, just superficiality.

(yes, I realize that there are like 10 million people down here. That means that there will be exceptions to the rule)

I grew up in NorCal but I am in SoCal for college. I definitely prefer NorCal for weather (I like the rain).

A lot of people from NorCal come down to SoCal for college and feel they have to represent NorCal for some reason. These people suck. This is especially true if said person has a NORCAL shirt in their wardrobe.

Funny that the only people who ever are spouting off the dumb "Norcal" "Socal" nonsense are the people from "Norcal."

That should tell you something. I never have, and never will, refer to myself with such an idiotic term.

Southern California is not a real place.

I'm a SoCal-er who moved north for college (Davis), and I have found both sides of California to be equally respectable people. However, people from NorCal LOVE to put "hella" in front of everything, which I find to be incredibly lame. And as people noted, they wear NORCAL shirts (which I find to be even more lame, because I'm in NorCal right now).

Also note that I have yet to see any SoCal shirts or paraphenilia.

[/ QUOTE ]

A retard is a person with mental defficiencies. You asked a question, then without waiting for an answer, drew a conclussion. Such extreme close-mindedness is a very common symptom of mental defficiency.

Maybe I have a massively high salary, am waiting until I turn 30 then retire, then move somewhere I'd enjoy.

Maybe I'm hate it because I'm in a long distance relationship, am gloomy, and my girlfriend is moving down here in June.

Maybe I loathe SoCal because the smog gave my father lung cancer and he died because of it. Since the late 70s, the air has cleaned up A LOT, and so the problem is fixing itself.

Maybe I'm so nice and polite and courteous to people down here that they find it refreshing, enjoy me being in their lives, and are changing their self-centered-ness (new word I created...I think it will catch on).

Maybe my aunt lives down here and is really unable to take care of herself, and I'm her caretaker. She refuses to move, and will probably die within a year or two. I'm willing to sacrifice my own happiness for hers for a few months.

Maybe I have a huge conglomeration of very close friends down here (the aforementioned exceptions to the rule) who make staying down here worthwhile.

I mean, there literally are dozens of good reasons why I stay, and hundreds more acceptable reasons that could exist that don't. But you don't want to hear them. You just want to jump to conclussions.

Buy a mat.

Retard.

I answered it.

You realized that you were wrong by jumping to conclusions. So, then you take more time out of your day to complain about me answering your question.

I don't think I need to stoop to your "throw some 6th grade insults out there" level here. You already feel lousy enough about yourself. You'll get over it.

But that is fine, Southern California is miserable, please leave.

I did answer the question. Many of the 'hypotheticals' I offered up are true. Some are not. But I did give multiple legitimate honest answers.

I don't take anything on this forum seriously. I realize I can come across as serious, and that's too bad.

I won't toss around insults though. Some posters may take this serious. I wouldn't want to make them sad.

The people, the air, the traffic, the attitude... I hate all of it. I'd love to move, but unfortunately I've built up a bit of seniority at my current job, and I enjoy work enough to where I think moving would prove to be a -EV gamble I'm not willing to take.

This is a rather hilarious post. Anyone who hates on SoCal is just a hater and jealous that we have what they want - Perfect weather, amazing beaches, Gorgeous women, great schools, Money, Money, and more Money.

There are definitely stuck up people, but those people are anywhere you go. SoCal is enormous and I can guarantee there are less stuck up people out there, it's just that the stuck up people stick out.

Living by the beaches in SoCal can't be beat. Nothing in NoCal can compare. Nocal definitely has some cool stuff and a fun place to visit for sure. But on the whole not even close. Rain and fog blow!! Beaches and scantily clad girls rock!

Socal hands down w/o a doubt!

So Much to comment on in this thread....

first : Its NO-CAL there is no "r" in it... NoCal NoCal NoCal

second : continue to send the water to SoCal and all will be fine

Third : "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco" - I don't recall who wrote/said this, but its friggin' true

SoCal = incredibly gorgeous women in bikinis in december at the beach.
NoCal = marginally attractive women in overcoats near the ocean in July

both have traffic / both have rural areas that you don't want to live in (Stockton / Bakersfield) / both have insanely expensive housing costs and gas / both have Arnold as governor (better than GDavis, but not by much)

Anyone thinking of moving here, don't it sucks, and there are already too many of you transplants that get out here, never leave and then bitch about not having seasons or the traffic or the people or some other such thing --- if you loathe SoCal -- LEAVE! We don't want you here!!!

NoCal is fine but there is nowhere in the US better to live than SoCal (and I've tried several places).

Hate New York City
It's cold and it's damp
And all the people dressed like monkeys
Let's leave Chicago to the Eskimos
That town's a little bit too rugged
For you and me you bad girl

Rollin' down the Imperial Highway
With a big nasty redhead at my side
Santa Ana winds blowin' hot from the north
And we as born to ride

Roll down the window put down the top
Crank up the Beach Boys baby
Don't let the music stop
We're gonna ride it till we just can't ride it no more

>From the South Bay to the Valley
>From the West Side to the East Side
Everybody's very happy
'Cause the sun is shining all the time
Looks like another perfect day

I love L.A. (We love it)
I love L.A. (We love it)

Look at that mountain
Look at those trees
Look at that bum over there, man
He's down on his knees
Look at these women
There ain't nothin' like 'em nowhere

Century Boulevard (We love it)
Victory Boulevard (We love it)
Santa Monica Boulevard (We love it)
Sixth Street (We love it, we love it)

I love L.A.

Plenty of amazing babes down there.

My Northern Cali experience consisted of spending a thanksgiving in Berkeley at a buddy of mine's sister's dump (I mean apartment) that she paid $1600 a month for.

Walked down H/B street and saw a completely naked guy taking a [censored] on the sidewalk.
