View Full Version : Mixing it Up

I've come to the conclusion that I need to mix up my game a little bit. I play fairly tight before the flop (17vpip), and pretty much keep it to "by the book" starting hand requirements. I will play the normal suited connectors and small pairs when the situation (odds) dictates.

My problem is that I have a hard time mixing it up when "the book" doesn't necessarily reccommend it.

I guess my questioon is: How and when do you bring other hands into play? Do you just randomly raise 78s from middle position now and then, or is there more science to it than that? I am aware that everything "depends" upon the game you're in, and I have no intention of becoming a loose cannon, but your ideas may help me to figure this out, or at least start me on the path.

PS - I typically play Party 15/30 if that helps.

Thanks.
