Question for heavy drinkers

Recently, a friend of mine threw a big party and greatly overestimated the amount that his guests could drink. This of course lead to the quesion of how long it would take one man to drink it all. The breakdown is as follows:

50 bottles of beer
1 750 ml bottle of everclear (190 proof)
1 1 L bottle of 151 (151 proof)
1 1.75 L bottle of Irish Cream (70 proof???)
1 1 L bottle of peppermint schapps (70 proof)

All mixers are allowed and you can use as much as you want.
The only rule is no vomiting. He has offered 500 bucks to anybody who can drink it all in a three day period. Do you think you can do it and what sort of strategy would you use?

Even with mixers, a whole bottle of this in 3 days along with the rest would kill me.

A little quick math puts the tally at 187 drinks (137 for the liqour plus 50) which damn, is over 60 drinks a day. For three days running? I don't think you'll get any winners of that little prize. Me, I'd give myself at least a week to do it. I figure I can pull 27 drinks a day, but that'd be really pushing it.

I think that it is impossible. There is no way anyone could come close without alcohol poisoining. Change the everclear to vodka or gin and maybe it is possible.

i could drink all but the everclear in 4 days (even the 151). i would need 3 days dedicated to the everclear alone.

i won $100 for drinking a handle of southern comfort in one day, i had from 8 in the morning till 7:59 the next morning about a year ago and that knocked me on my ass for the next couple days. to clear that everclear it will take awhile by yourself.

calculating it out with some weighting factors (shots are on an ~80 proof basis), and one bottle of beer ~ 1 fluid ounce of 80 proof liquor, we'll say

you've got, 50 + (25 * 2.375) + (33 * 1.8875) + (58 * 0.875) + (33 * 0.875) = about 252 drinks

252/72 hr = about 3.5 shots per hour of 80 proof liquor

gah.. 40% alc. by volume, you're right. a total blunder by trying to crank that analysis out too quickly.

According to my calculations:
Given 1 beer=1 shot (50 ml) 40 proof liquor==1 drink
Total Drinks= 50(beer) + 36 (everclear) + 38 (151) +
35 (irish cream)+20(scnapps)= 179 Drinks
Over three days this is 2.48 Drinks/hour.

Though that number is esentially meaningless beacause I doubt anybody has any experience drinking for 72 hours straight.
So on a more theoretical level, if you agreed to a similar challenge to drink X drinks in Y hours would you try to stay up and drink the mimimun each hour to finish or would you use a frat boy style binge/sleep cycle?

i am sure that there is someone out there that could do it. i remember reading about a 400lb scottich guy that set some kind of record by drinking 185 beers in one night and then driving himself home.

also, i knew a guy that pissed alcohol out so fast he couldn't really get drunk- i've seen him drink a handle of wild turkey in a night and stay very lucid. if one went to the bathroom after him, the whole room smelled like booze.

60 drinks a day, to a dude that weighs 3x as much as a normal person, is only the equilivent of 20 drinks/day. very doable.

I know for a fact I wouldn't be able to do it. But convert it all to vodka and I'd have a fighting chance (in my prime, which was 10 years ago).

just everclear is enough to last a few nights -- 50 beers that may be done in a day there

i think that it would take seven nights to drink all of that --- youd be very drunk and im pretty sure that most would puke after a night of drinking everclear heavily

how many people were there to finish this in one night?

Wow, do you actually drink those on a regular basis or is that sarcasm? The problem is that the bottles are huge in comparison to regular beer bottles and I believe it has slightly more alcohol. The upside is of course that you could down the Everclear straight without tasting it at all.

THIS CAN BE DONE!!!!!

the key is to water down the Everclear and 151 with as much mixers as possible. On the 1st day i would mix the everclear and 151 with fruit juices at a ratio of about 2 ounces each to half gallon. and drink it pretty much non-stop. With that much liquid you will CONSTANTLY be pissing all day long which will lessen the effects of the alcohol although you will still be wasted out of your mind if you pacxe yourself right you should be able to finish the Everclear and 151 in one day and have some time to sleep off the effects.... that leaves 2 days to drink 50 beers some schnapps and irish cream (yuck).... I know for a fact i have drank 50 beers in 2 days along with a ton of shots. and would be able to get the cream down with enough coffee. It would be easier if i could make the beers Guinness and trade the schnapps for Jamesons and do car bombs for 2 days. But either way i seriously think i could do it if you have a liver donor on stand by for me /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would be willing to take this bet. I think I may have already /images/graemlins/grin.gif Spring break 2000 in Daytona Beach I was wreaked for 6 days stright. By day 3 I was starting the day off with a double of 151 just to get my drunk on.

I am also 5 years older now and not sure I can handle that much booze over a period of time with out passing out but It might be fun as hell to try /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

This was what was left over. Maybe 50 people showed up but alot of people had to drive so they didn't drink much which led to the surplus.

Wow, thats the most optimistic estimate I've heard. I am starting to think 3 is impossible, (but i was thinking it'll almost take 2 days to finish the everclear and 151) but I think 5 or 6 days could be a hell of alot of fun.

If it has to be done in three days this would be my strategy:
Day 1- 25 beers then finish the Scnapps (Hours 1-10)
Sleep (10-16)
Finish Irish Cream (16-22)
Sleep (22-28)
25 beers and 1/2 Everclear (God that sounds like a vomit) (28-38)
Sleep (38-44)
This leaves 28 hours for the 151 and 1/2 the everclear. Actually this solution sucks, who can keep down 1/2 a bottle of everclear and 25 beers. Should I just drink all the beer one day? It seems like a waste of a day with all that liqour just sitting there. Any thoughts on pacing?

Pretty sure I could not do this, even in my prime. The 50 beers is a day's work. Ther Irish Cream, Schnapps and half the 151 is another day.... Fours days maybe in my prime. No way three.
