I'm on a 150 SNG streak of losing play. Not much, mind you (like 3 buy-ins) but it's tax time. And that means Bigwig has to cut a check to the IRS in the amount of $4500.

So tell me that this small a streak means absolutely nothing.

Or does it?

You're the man, time to get on a hot streak! That means nothing to your game! /images/graemlins/smile.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Means nothing, file an extension, and keep playing.

You should get a tax deducation for your incredibly large 3 buy in loss...

downswings of any size should be tax deductible.

Over the past 2 weeks I was playing break even poker over 600 SNG's, 4-tabling mind you.

130 is nothin' bro.

2005 is going better than I imagined or hoped. Still, I've had 3 losing streaks of 150 or more, and one streak of over 400 SNGs with a barely positive ROI.

It doesn't mean anything if you're playing the right way. You just need to play another 2000 SNGs... everything will be fine. The runs of 300 SNGs with a 40% ROI are fun.

Is that what you were looking for?

alright here goes...

1) read iries post (as always)

2) in an almost zen like state, stop focusing on the short term. put the tax man on the back burner and file an extension. you will even out.

since it is the current trend, i will do it one more time.

focus on the now
roi will even out
file an extension

zen.....ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmm mmmmmmmmm

Yep. Thanks.

Here's my problem: Despite my having a very good understanding of math and variability, I have a difficult time handling downswings. Not a BAD time, mind you. Just too much self doubt. Therefore, I need constant reassurance when this happens to prevent me from panicking and changing my game in a drastic way.

It also makes little sense for me to be this self-aware about my tendencies and still request the same stroking. Such is human nature.

That's good, too.

I'm off to the $50s. Stay away from table, 2+2ers. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

i have a lot of self doubt as well... it's the reason why i take so long in moving up in levels, despite the bankroll for it...

but don't be down on yourself for self-doubt.... self-doubt is a natural part of being an analytical person--- which is definitely something that is required to be a successful SNG player.

so "yea!" to self-doubt. you're a better player for it.
