OK, i know this is a basic question, but I'm still new at these, I'm ignorant, and I don't have much success with the search function.

In a typical 4 handed situation, say a leader has 3500, I have 1700, another 1300 and another 1500. I'm UTG, button or even small blind and get the chance to open with a small pair. 200-400 blinds. Is this a push? How about at 100-200? How much does it matter if the leader has to act behind me?

Definitely at 400 blinds push any pair. At 200 blinds, IMO its dependent on the read of the table and if it seems someone is ready to take a stand. If its 66+, absolutely push, 55- its marginal.

it also depends a great deal on what buy-in you're at.

in the 10's i'd be less inclined to pop 22-55 because they call with anything, and you are not looking for a call here.

if you're in the 22's or 33's i'd think you'd be a fool NOT to push any pair, at either 100-200 or higher, as long as you have the standard weak-tight bubble opponents.

Player tightness, position and size of the pair would matter the most to me. If the pair were 22 or 33 and I was UTG, I'd pitch them. The higher the pair and the later the position I'd be more apt to fire all-in.
