Can anyone help me out with the poker scene in Reno? Is is still a viable option or has everyone left for Ca etc?

I played in low-limit ring games at Peppermill and El Dorado over the 4th of July weekend, and did a walk-by at the Hilton. El Dorado had the most games going (and was spreading a 2-3-5 no limit HE game as well) and the games didn't break in the wee hours. Peppermill spreads a 15-30 HE game on the weekends, and had just started spreading 4-8 Omaha-8 with half kill.

From what I understand, Circus Circus, Cal-Neva, and Atlantis all have poker rooms, but I don't know what the games are like.

My Reno poker experience is very limited - mostly when I go up skiing or something, but it's almost exclusively low limit. The best room is at the peppermill, and it has the crazy "I'm Tripping Balls, Honey, look at my hand it's floating in a sea of neon dragons" decor - surely a plus! /forums/images/icons/cool.gif The 15-30 is rarely spread, but the normal game (I think 1-4-8-8 or 4-8) is one of the best low-limit games ever. These guys are morons. Just bring a breathing apparatus for all the smoke.

The Atlantis poker room is very small, but they treated me well when I stopped in there a while ago. They have some nice small-buy-in tournies and the casino is much cleaner than most of the Reno joints.

I think the Eldorado spreads a pot-limit or no-limit game, but I've never played there. Cal Neva has a shitty old room, with low limit games and attrocious players trying to scrape some $ together.

I'm not a huge fan of Reno, but it may be your bag. Good luck.
