View Full Version : Any value in betting this river?

I felt pretty comfortable in this hand until the river card hit the deck. When the villain (18vpip 8pfr over 75hands) raised me on the turn I instantly put him on a K and as such when the board double paired I froze up. What is the best play here?

I check behind, its a win1, lose 2 situation, I don't think he has something besides a K 67% of the time

I really don't think the villan can have any hand except a k or maybe 99. I don't like a value bet on this river. He check raised the turn, and I see him trying to do it again.

Villain is weird. Check/call flop. Check/raise turn. Going for another check/raise on the river? I'll just check the river.

Hero 3-bet the Turn and villian just called. I think if he had one of those hands he would have probably capped it. Saying that, I check behind on the river. The 9 is a nasty card.

I think QJ is a possiblity considering villain's actions.

I'd still check it through though.

initially misread hand.

the turn betting implies an already made hand, which trip kings is, although the slowplay on the flop is curious to me. i would check as i want to really show this down and facing a river raise would put me in a tricky spot as i am as yet not an accomplished turn/river player.

(adopting the "post before viewing reply" approach to using the boards...)

Seems like the wrong spot to value bet, because he'll probably raise you when he's got you beat, and fold if he doesn't.

QJ is a cap on the turn for me considering hero's PF and flop action.

Regardless I think the general concensus is check it through and I tend to agree.

Hero has Ts Tc (full house, tens full of kings).

As you can see I ended up checking behind him and taking it to showdown. One thing that I considered was betting and then folding to a raise. But I really wanted to see a his cards on this one as his play really confused me, and I wasn't very confident of my ability fold to a raise here on the river.
