I've had several hands like this in the past few days, and am wondering if I'm just playing it wrong or getting unlucky

6 left in a 5/.50

All chip counts are appx.

Hero 1050 Chips
UTG 3000 Chips
EP 2000 Chips
MP 2000 Chips
But 750 Chips
SB 1200 Chips

Hero dealt 7 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif9 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

SB posts 75, Hero (BB) posts 150, UTG calls, EP folds, MP Folds, Button folds, SB completes, Hero checks

Flop 8 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif8 /images/graemlins/spade.gif9 /images/graemlins/heart.gif

SB checks, Hero (BB) bets 900 (all in), SB calls.

What hands can you see calling a bet like that? Can you beat any of them?

A bet of 2/3 the pot will normally be enough to get someone who missed the flop to drop his hand.

1. Re 2/3 of pot. Thanks for the advice, I'll try that.

2. What kind of hands would call -- in this hand AQ, an it's been 2 overcards more often than not.

yes. it's a leak. especially if you define leak as a bad play. it is in particular something that will have a lower and lower EV as you move up in stakes.
