Most American news sources had nothing but good things to say about the Pope when he died, though certainly plenty of people didn't like his stance on condoms or the perceived lack of response to the child abuse scandal. When Reagan died, again, most of the coverage neglected how polarizing a figure he was. Hell, even Nixon got pretty good press when he died. It's just how things go, and I don't think that political correctness has anything to do with it here.

Of course race is a part of the equation of the relationship because they're different races, but that's nowhere near what we're talking about. Maybe the interracial factor adds to how interesting it is, but not the ridiculousness (unless you're istewart).
