I would put him all in preflop. Someone making a big overbet preflop at levels 1-2 will almost always call an all in.

As for the flop. If you belive he is capable of risking all his chips on a bluff call. If not, I would think hard about folding. If you are behind you have a very small chance of improving here.

Raise preflop. You've got someone betting into you, at least make it as expensive as possible for him to draw out on you. Someone who raises to 135 probably won't fold to a reasonable reraise preflop.

Just as I opened this thread, I started a new SNG. Going through my typical fold/fold/fold/read routine, I noticed xtenaciousdx at my new table. Nice.

Edit: She busted out before I could finish this post.

Definitely raise preflop.

There is no reason to slowplay here.

Not perfect not even close. Sorry. Start by ask youself why you didn't reraise preflop. You should raise for one of the 3 following reasons.

1. to get more money in the pot when you think you have a powerfull hand. (like yours)
2. To thin the field so you don't have to compete with several people.
3. To define your's and your opponents hand. ( you needed this as well)

So by not reraising preflop you can't get any info on your opponents hand. Further he has no info on yours and in this case needed him to know you had a powerful hand. Why? So he'd lay his rags down of course. Why try to get him to lay down his rags if he's behind? Becuase contrary to popular belief the favoured hand doesn't always win. Thus your frustration with this hand.

Now...on the flop...you got a really ugly board. Is it at all possible that this guy raised with QQ,AQ or KQ?? If so Why in the world would you push here. In most cases you can Reraise him a little to see what happens next if he pushes you can safely assume your Aces are no good. You can lay them down and live to fight another day. In this case reraising means your whole stack. So you must rely on the previous action to make this decision.

A: you didn't reraise so you don't know what he might have.
B: he's pot committing himself on the flop. He either has a Queen,Pocket Fives, medium pocket pair or a stone cold bluff.

It smarts to lay down the Bullets but it's a lot better than going broke. Welcome to the forum and keep posting histories these guys are the best.

I contend getting tricky in a 10 dollar tournament is dumb.

you used way too many words in your reply.
if you're going to use that many, at least write a haiku.

thank you.

i'll have to come up with a better, more contrived, form of posting for answers such as the ones we furnished in this wonderful thread.

how about: his play, not brilliant, in my opinion.

HAHA... then you need to post a picture of that kid pointing to his hat.

Smoothcall
04-11-2005, 08:06 AM
Well i think smoothcalling is a little bit dangerous here after a limper and a raise but not horrible. Sometimes its good to change up your play and do one of these. You might get another player temtped to come over top because he knows the other guy is a dope and suspects you woulda raised with a hand you can call an all in with. After the flop i think you played it fine. I personally would have reraised preflop. Not an all in because i don't want to lose him. I would double it and let him hang himself. The result does not matter. AA will beat q10 eventually. He is a dope and you will get his money eventually if you keep playing well.
