I did a search for this already and read some posts, but I didn't get the full story.

I'm headed to Vegas in March.

1) What are the exact procedures for getting this casino rate? (i'm headed on weekdays - Sun through Thur.)

2) What is the average % drop in room rate for poker?

3) How do you establish casino credit, and does this help with room rates?
and is it safe and a good idea? I've just heard good things.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So far I've considered the Sahara, Excalibur, Luxor, and Monte Carlo.

It's a trip with 6 guys and we're going to party and check-raise some other tourists.

The best way to get reliable information is to call the poker rooms themselves. You'll be booking your reservations through the poker room anyway in order to get the poker rate. Here are the #'s.

Monte Carlo (best choice because of great location on the Strip and excellent poker room): 702-730-7780

Luxor: 1-800-724-9333

Excalibur: 1-800-879-1379

Sorry, I don't know a toll free number for the Monte Carlo.

I reccomend you don't stay at the Sahara. The Sahara is the second most northern casino on the Strip and is far away from the heart of the action.

Establishing a line of credit Does open the doors to special room rates, maybe free rooms, ect.I recomend $10,000 you will find yourself getting all kinds of offers.such as super bowl parties@free rooms. If you apply at 2nd,or 3rd class casinos {not that they are dives}like:Imperal Palace,Harrahs,Orleans a $10G credit line brings more attention than it would at the higher priced joints. After you get aproved whatever you do DO NOT USE IT! A free room is not worth $10Gr after one or two trips after not showing the casino any action you will find yoursilf getting fewer[if any ] offers.Thats OK apply for a LOC elseware.Speaking of the Orleans they have a {small limit}poker room.Excellant rooms, fair rake, good food, and a shuttle[free]back to the strip.Good Luck! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I am coming to Vegas from Nov. 18-23 and decided to stay at the Monte Carlo for the reasons Dynasty listed, along with the price. Their toll-free reservation line is 1-888-529-4828 which you can call and ask to be transferred to the poker room. The poker rate for the week that I'm staying was almost identical to the regular rate (though perhaps that's because their regular rates are low during that week anyway). Anyway, I too recommend the Monte Carlo.

Be sure to check out the regular room rates as well -- big advantage is that you're not locked in to playing at one particular cardroom.

I've found that you can get the best rates for a particular hotel by going to the hotel's web site, not the travel web sites like expedia or tripreservations.com.

The hotels run by either Park Place or Mandalay Bay Resorts have very good online reservations sites that give you a "rate calendar". e.g. www.luxor.com (http://www.luxor.com) www.montecarlo.com (http://www.montecarlo.com) www.flamingolv.com (http://www.flamingolv.com) www.parislv.com (http://www.parislv.com)

I've heard that the Mirage has a good poker rate (something like $80 weekdays) but they require six hours of play, eight hours on weekends.

Last time I stayed in the Luxor pyramid. The architecture is cool but the room wasn't great. I'd suggest the tower if you go for Luxor.

Try www.travelaxe.com (http://www.travelaxe.com) as well. It searches a bunch of different sites (expedia, travelocity, hotel web site, etc) and gives you the best rates. It is free to use.
