How do you apply sunscreen on yourself?

How would I apply sunscreen to hard-to-get spots, like my back? I'm trying to get an even tan. ANy other tips?

I don't use sun screen anymore as the sun is wicked good for drying up the skin on my face in the few times that I'm actually outside.
