It's been a long day of getting rivered, and now this. My turn bet was small because I had been stealing a lot of pots and wanted it to look like that. On the river he takes a decent amount of time, then pushes.

Raise the flop and bet more on the turn. It will make your river decision a lot easier.

EDIT: Not to mention the fact that 2 pair or a set isn't going anywhere at these levels.

You're two points seem to conflict. I'm not pushing a two pair or set out, so why not let them bet into me?

putting most money in the middle before sucky cards that will beat/ split with you is your goal when flopping broadway straight.

First of all, villain checked to you on the turn, so obviously, he's not betting it for you. If you want to win money here, you're going to need to put it in there yourself. Secondly, playing it your way is a sure fire way to get a little money in when you're ahead and a whole lot in when you're behind (like when the villain likely boated up on the river).

I guess this was just a read oriented line. I thought it was likely he would check/raise me on the turn. I think it looks enough like a naked Q trying to take it down, and opens it up for a bluff on the turn or the river if it bricks.

I might just be being results oriented though.
