I'm not a bonus whore, but I do take advantage of them when they come along. Like I suspect many do, I drop down in limits to get it over with as quickly as possible. Which brings me to the question: What strategic changes are necessary when one drops from 2/4 to .5/1 if any?
I can start with one and I'm hoping others have more:
Change #1: At .5/1, forget about taking a stab at the pot on the turn. This is one play that I believe is profitable for me at 2/4 and a chip spewer at .5/1. You raise pre-flop in position with AKs and get 3 others to come along. Flop sucks. You make your standard continuation bet and get one caller. Turn is another brick. It is checked to you. Fire! Villian folds.
Again, I believe I get the proper outcome enough times at 2/4 for it to be profitable, but don't believe this is appropriate at .5/1 because the percentage of times you'll get called down by bottom/middle pair is significantly higher.
Can anyone add to this short list and/or bash my thought process?
