Trips vs tricky LAG

I raise with AQo, tricky LAG calls in SB.

Flop is AA5, 2 :spades:. Villain checks, I bet 2/3 pot, he calls.

Turn is a brick. I bet 2/3 pot, he calls.

River completes flush. He bets out pot size, about $100.

I like to pot the turn. If he's gonna call 2/3, he'll call the entire pot on the turn. He's either trying to trap with an ace, which you likely can beat, or he's on the flush draw. It's 2 to 1 on the call on the river, and it comes down to what percentage of the time you will see a bluff shown here. Knowing this guy plays a ton of hands, he probably thinks Ax is good, and i probably make a somewhat crying call. OTOH, if this is guy that gives away money a lot, i may look for a better spot and fold.

yeah, if he's bad.

villain's line really doesn't make much sense for anything but a flush draw. a hand like 66 maybe? but what was his plan going to be if the river does not complete the flush? maybe a smaller Ax? i guess that could make sense.

i'm not sure i'd have the discipline to fold, but i think it's the right play.

I don't know your villain personally, but maybe he has 5's wired w/ hero betting into him, possibly putting hero on flush draw, hoping to suck you in when flush comes up. I could be wrong. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Check / call, check / call, bet out is usually a pretty strong line to take when someone's afraid of being checked behind.

Folding is probably the long term +EV play, even though it was the wrong move in this case. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I didn't plan on playing weak-tight, he was a pretty bad LAG so I was content with just calling him down and letting him bet his stack away.
