5 card stud

I just started playing 5 card stud. From what I have seen it seems like no matter what the situation checking the river against 1 opponent is always a good idea. Can anyone give an example of where this wouldn't be the case? Also any other 5 card stud pointers are appreciated too.

How did you come to the conclusion that always checking the river against 1 opponent is a good idea??

First of all, you have completely taken bluffing away from your game! Any half-way decent opponent will pick up on that and tear you apart.
