5 players left at the 150/300 level. I have 1650, Sb has 1000 and is pretty tight. BB has 5000. Folded to me on the button and I push with KTo.

Like, dislike? Should I have minraised or folded?

kind of debateable, if this is on party, then you have at least 3rd pretty much sewn up so i think it's an unnecessary risk.

The other two had about 600 and 1200 respectively, so i wasnt sure that I had third in hand.

Maybe you can explain that a little bit. I have found that there is a decent chance those people will tighten up pretty well and then it becomes an issue of whether or not they win their all-in hands before you have to make a move. So saying you have 3rd sewn up when it's 5-handed and you have a wholely unimpressive stack is a little dismissive in my opinion...

EDIT: Needed to read the OP a little more closely. I see where you were coming from...

why minraise? do you plan on calling an all-in? minraising then folding would be asinine. You played it fine by pushing.

I like it. It sucks that you have to push into the big stack but with the way the table is set up you're just going to have to consider it an occupational hazard.

i'm not sayin to be super weak tight, but your options here are push or fold. you minraise- leave 1k back? what happens if he comes over the top? fold?

the party comment was that the bb had 5k chips, sb had over 1k, and you had 1600, that would account for 7600 chips leaving 400 chips for the other 2 people- in which case i think this push would be ludicrous.

but since it's on stars or somewhere with a healthier starting stack- then it's merely marginal.

there is no clear cut answer here, it's one of the times i wish i had eastbays EV calculator.

I raise to 800 and then fire all in on the flop, unless I completely miss and he puts me allin.

Post the exact hand and I'll Power Tool it for you. Then you can see why it's the best $79 you'll ever spend on a poker product.

If the BB is going calling the extra 500, i would think he would go the extra mile and put you all-in for 800 extra most of the time, no?

He has to figure that after the flop with 1750 in the pot and 800 in your stack, all your chips are going in on way or the other. Makes more sense for him to push PF and hope to get some minimal FE.

Therefore I prefer to push and keep that minimal extra FE to myself.

what buy-in?

You are sort of correct, but not in this case since you're giving the opponent way, way too much credit. 90% of opponents don't realize all that, or at least think of it in 4 seconds.

If I am raised pf I am going all in as well.

I wasnt actually considering the minraise, but allin/fold/minraise were the only options. I wouldnt minraise because I dont want someone coming over the top with A3 or even calling with QJ.

It was a $50 tournament on party. I didnt think I had it sewn up, which is why I went for more chips....
