i bought a shirt that refuses to get unwrinkled. i've washed it, ironed it, and it still looks like crap. what the dilly?

take it to the dry cleaner.

alternatively, don't buy shirts that have built in wrinkles as part of the pattern and then try to iron out the wrinkles.

try ironing it slightly damp

If it is 100% linen, throw it away and buy an unwrinkled one.

Another problem if it is linen, if you ever get the wrinkles out (unlikely), the first time you sit down or lean against something you'll have all new wrinkles.

this was a shirt i bought on sale for $5 at old navy. which means 1) these wrinkles are not intentional and 2) i'd rather not spend money to dry clean it.

Sometimes if you go to an old laundromat, you can find those big steam presses. You know, the kind that Moe put Larry's head in... "C'mere, porcupine". That should do the trick. If not, you've got a new $5 dish rag.
