Unlike New Labour's 2001 manifesto, which featured Mr Blair in six out of 34 photos (plus the cover) the new (http://politics.guardian.co.uk/election/story/0,15803,1454882,00.html), pocket-size publication expected on Monday will contain just one photograph. It will be inside the document.

yes, Tony Blair is in trouble. Largely due to his slavish obedience to the whims of American foreign policy, the current British PM faces a tough challenge in the coming generál elections, from the Conservatives and the Liberals, the latter already getting a small boost (http://politics.guardian.co.uk/election/story/0,15803,1454848,00.html) from disappointed Labour voters.

The latest news (http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1454998,00.html) from the Iraqi front are not helping Tony much. The British intelligence chiefs have officially admitted for the first time that claims they made about Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction were wrong and have not been substantiated. Ouch.

As if things aren't bad enough in the foreign policy front, the UK was hit yetserday with the shocking news of the last mass auto manufacturer of Britain getting into serious trouble (http://edition.cnn.com/2005/BUSINESS/04/08/mgrover/index.html) : MG Rover is heading for bankruptsy.

The May election should be quite interesting.

Correspondents expect turnout to be less than 50% for the first time in British history, if thats the case its likely Labour (the only possible winners) will have the support of less than 22% of British people.

The levels of political apathy in this country are getting very scary.
