My thinking here was that I would rather steal the blinds than go for a set. Chance of a set 1/8 chance of blind steal .. ? The blinds were about to eat me up so limping seemed weak. Opinions, flames, criticism all welcome.

I run into spots liek this pretty often at the 50s, where you just haven't done much and suddenly there are 7 players left and the blinds are 100/200.

I think you need to push, just becasue the blinds are so big compared to your stack and you might have the best hand. your gonna get called and lose a lot, but when you don't you will be in a much more comfortable spot.

I plugged this into eastbays calclulator with some guesstamates at calling ranges and it is a margnal push, which is about what I would have guessed.

Actually this was an 11 buy in. The 55 was my hand. a pair of 5's.

You should be pushing a ton more hands then 55 here. Any ace any pair K9+ and some suited connectors.

You have blinds coming up. Chances are 55 is the best hand you will see before blinds have eaten your whole stack. Besides if you are called and win, chances are that the other big stacks will not be as likely to go after your blinds.

Thanks for the advice.

Bad outcomes can make me question my play. So shortish stack vs big fat blinds equal push 1/6 or 1/7 of the hands I get dealt. I assume that is in an uncalled or unraised pot, when I am first to act.

Cool I think this will seal a leak.
