Notes on villain are he will bet into a PF raiser with top pair, and he likes to value bet the river with some marginal hands but good value bets. So normally I autobet this river, but should I risk the shame of the trifecta??

I would think the only reason he would have to go for the trifecta with 2 pair or better is if he is someone from 2+2 who wants to post about it. More likely someone with a lone 8. I value bet and if he does the trifecta thing I get to read all about right here and find out who he is.

I'd 3-bet the flop and bet the river.

I was going to wait until the turn to raise. His check wrecked that.

Yeah, the problem is he will wreck it with a check too often for my tastes. Also he is more likely to call down with a weak hand if you 3-bet.

Fair enough. I do 3 bet this flop over 90% of the time.

i think you should bet because even if he checkraies you again i would expect you to win a healthy amount of the time. then you could post about the time you got trifecta'd by a worse hand.

Plus the time spent laughing and telling your poker-playing roomate about how A8 trifecta'd your aces afterwards are well worth the risk...trust me.

You still could have raised the turn.

My tendency is to play the flop the same. But I agree with misterpug: why not raise the turn?
