Call or fold trash hands such as this BB when one person threw up a raise. I figured implied odds on hitting a improbable strong hand on flop is worth it when it's 1:8. Recently though, I'm considering otherwise...Thoughts? Facts on EV? Thank you.

Ew. I know people say to play looser from the blinds, but this is ridiculous. FOld this.

Thanks. Why though, how can you tell it's neg EV. I'd like to know how to adjust my criterion for hand selection when it's costing me only an 8th of pot extra to see it. Should I adjust playing standards as if I were in middle pos.?

Fold preflop.

You have to hit the board pretty hard to feel confident about your hand. I don't think I'd feel secure about just a top pair of Q -- you could be dominated.

This is such a basic routine fold it's really almost hard to explain. I'm not trying to be condescending at all to you when I say this. You are asking an honest question and deserve and honest answer. It's just so routine, we all fold this without really thinking about it.

How about this: this hand is SO BAD, it's not even worth considering calling preflop. What would be the minimum hand you would call with here? Depending on the raiser, I would call with any suited broadway, any pocker pair, and suited connectors down to 98s. I would hesitate to call weak offsuit broadway (e.g. QTo), but as the raiser gets looser, the more likely I am to call.

Anyone agree? Disagree?

Not only is domination a big concern (with the Q in this case), but unless you play extremely well post-flop you're going to spew chips with this stuff when you call down with a pair of 3s against an opponents pocket tens. Yeah, if the flop comes 33Q you're in pretty good shape, but how often does that happen?

Hint: It's not 1/8 of the time.
