so i was flipping through channels, and watched two minutes of star trek:TNG. I got to thinking, Why dont the people in the star trek universe go everywhere at top warp speed? Money has been elminated, so do they just not want to get there as fast, or what? Sorry, this is seriously lame, i know.

Wow, you figured out that money has been eliminated in just 2 minutes?

At one point in SNG they discovered that warp speeds above Warp 6 unravelled the space-time continuoum, which would ultimately lead to the universe being ripped apart or something. Star Fleet then imposed a ban on travel faster than Warp 6, except for special emergencies. Later on (possibly during the time of Voyager) they figured out a way to reach Warp 6+ without the harmful effects.

Cheers,

Swede

second mistake.

Very badly played. This is how it should have been played.
1) watch two minutes of porn.
2)Masterbate

Wow, I think I have seen every episode of that series and had no clue. I always just figured the higher speeds were hard on the warp core or engines.

Learn something new and useless every day.

In the original series Dilithium only occured naturally. In the movie Star Trek IV, Spock figures out a way to process old Dilithium so in the later TV shows and movies obtaining Dilithium is never really an issue.

Good post. I'm not a geek so I don't know the answer. But I'll bet dollars to donuts that Matt Flynn knows. Now let's hear some more stories about your drinking heroics.

If you've ever watched DS9, you know that the whole eliminated money is bull. The federation would like to think that they have eliminated money, but when they need something, they will use latinum as fast as a Ferengi.
