My US$ credit card was declined when I tried to use it last week at Disney World. I called the bank when I got back home and it turns out there are a bunch of charges from Italian merchants since about mid-March. The villains seem to have encoded a physical card with my number since one of the charges was a restaurant.
I use this card online quite a bit - Amazon, Neteller, Pay pal & a few others. The only new sites I used it on recently were ecost and PCMall.
I had to write the bank disputing the charges (about $2k in all) and they'll issue a new card and "charge back" the disputed charges.
