[censored]? When does he ever say sh*t? I do remember specifically the "loss of innocence" I felt when seeing the movie and hearing the phrase (I think it was Ultra Magnus) "Open damnit, open." I looked at my Mom and I thought we were going to have to leave the theatre. Being 4 I felt incredibly uncomfortable. Also do you know that the writer/director/actor of what many critics bill as the greatest movie ever made had a starring role in that movie?

I've been out of the collectibles game for a while, but a quick completed items search on ebay shows 1st Generation, MIB, Optimus Primes selling for ~150 USD. (1984 date on the box)

Mind you I haven't seen the movie for a long, long time, but I seem to recall that one of the big deals about seeing it as a kid was that there was a swear word in it. Maybe I'm remembering wrong.

Yeah that's the part I was talking about above. You are correct, it's when the guy that takes over after Optimus dies tries to open the Matrix but can't. He says "Open damnit, open." Then gets blown apart and the decepticons steal the matrix.

One of the characters actually says "Oh $HIT, what are we going to do now?" This is the swear word that caused the really big uproar.

I seem to recall that it was Jazz that said it to Optimus, not Optimus saying it himself.

I thought that it was Jazz also, but my wife (who has seen the movie more than a few times thanks to our 6 year old) says it was Spike (the human character).

Here is the entire email that I just received from my wife:

If you go to google and type "transformers movie swearing" you will find many links that talk about spike swearing. For instance this quote from one of them.

some footage that was cut: -More footage of Unicron eating the Planet Lithone at the beginning -more transformations of Autobot City which was original colored all white and used in the commercial for the movie. This was before they decided to use the gold color scheme. -Kup and Hotrod losing control on their shuttle as they are being shot down over Quintessa -Ultra Magnus in his shuttle screaming. He is colored differently that as we see him in the movie. His color scheme matches his Diaclone toy from which he came from. -a 3 second transformation of Unicron -Blitzwing getting knocked over by Prime in Autobot City.. there are a few other cuts as well but these are the major ones. When the movie was released to video cassette, the swearing by Spike saying "Oh [censored]! What are we going to do now?" was trimmed and Ultra Magnus's "Goddammit!" was changed to just plain old "Dammit!". Canadian versions still have the swearing intact.

Well, guess that clears that up...and I may have a long night ahead of me at home.

My favoirte of all the characters was Omega Supreme. I know he was one of the most expensive characters in Toys R Us all the way back in 1985.
