View Full Version : What's your favorite arcade game?
I just picked up a ton of MAME roms. For the uneducated, MAME means multi-arcade machine emulator. I recently made my first poker winnings purchace and grabbed a dual joystick x-arcace
http://www.x-arcade.com/graphics/dual.gif
along with a 10 DVD set of every arcade rom all the way up to 2002-ish (for only 30 bucks, yeah... total ownage link - http://www.darkravenwind.com/cdvision/romburning.htm ). I've been running a muck on Bust-A-Move, Alien Vs. Predator, Metal Slug, and a shitload of fighting games (MVC1, Xmen Vs SF, Samurai Showdown, etc etc etc) and I was wondering if anyone had any favorite arcade games they think I should try out. So yeah... suggestions?

Galaga.
I found an old machine at a local arcade a few weeks ago and I had my best game of all time. I hit level 125 with a score of about 1,250,000 or something around there. I could've kept going but I'd been playing for about an hour and didn't feel like it anymore. Also, I'm awesome.

I prefer the pinball machines. My favorites were The Adams Family and Star Trek (both the original and Next Generation). I could play any of these games pretty much indefinitely thanks to extra balls and replays.

I agree.. can never find pinball machines anymore, but there is actually a decent emulator (pinmame/visual pinball). My favorites were Twilight Zone and Attack from Mars.

Man, I used to hate that game, had such a steep learning curve, it'd cost me a quarter for a miserable 1 minute experience, but now that it's free, I'm starting to enjoy this game more =P.

I have one of these, but I didn't know about the DVD roms (I was forced to do the stupid download off Kazza)
I'm gonna set up a station in my house for it later on - I got a ton of fun outta track and field again.

I would have said Time Crisis (any) - until my 17 year-old nephew went through TC2 on ONE LOUSY CREDIT on his first time of playing. I have seldom been so comprehensively pwned.

NBA Jam Tournament Edition kills anything on here. Except for this Pac Man that I played once where Pac Man went bigger and smaller depending on certain things you picked up - it was the coolest thing ever!
