In this situation lets say I'm playing these cards mostly for set, two pair and straight value.... I'm not likely to cary this to the end with top pair.... Should I be playing this here if I'm pretty sure I can get away from the hand if need be?.. Also By playing these hands am I give up prescious Fold Equity?

When I read the subject line of your post I had a feeling that a proper reply would really not need math at all.

Yet another good 2+2 "read" /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Fold K10o PF in lev 1-3 it is a trash hand.

I'm not a math expert, but playing this crap once or twice a round, even in the most passive games, is terribly bad given the short-stacked sng structure.

You don't need a math expert for these hands. It's the clearest preflop fold in SNG poker.

You would be better off to limp with 7-9s than K-T, if your goal is to pray for the 3% of the time you flop 2-pair or better. But it should be clear that you don't want to take 4 to 1 or so pot odds with maybe 10 to 1 implied odds on a hand that will make an acceptable hand in your mind only a few percent of the time.

If you were to make a list of places where your money was going, these hands would be second only behind the vig.

Any 2 cards have this value. K10 is trash. Fold.

Sure. Backtrack with the old, "It was .. uhh.. a friend of mine who played this hand" kind of like "Hey Doc, I've got a friend who has a burning sensation. What should he do?" Just kidding, I'm sure some people will get some help from this thread.

What I dislike about hands like K 10 are that even if you hit two pair, you are dealing w the players that call w QJ. Its just an ugly situation. Fold. limp in that position w lower pok pairs for set value or suited connectors like 67, 78, even 79 even now and then, but NOT too often (once every level or so - but I play on PStars, where calls like this are a lot easier on your stack - on Party, muck hands I described a lot more often)
