5 ER in the first...anyone else think it was odd for Cox to set up the rotation so Smoltz starts opening day after not starting a regular season game since 2001?

Nah, I'd say it was the correct decision. No use putting it off.

Smoltz looked great against Delgado the first time around, but it'll probably take him a long while to adjust to starting again.

Anyway, it's the gayass Braves' announcers fault. Braves get 2 on in the top of 1st, cant score. Bottom of 1st Marlins have 2 on with 2 out and the retard says "Both teams have had a chance to score in the first but neither have been able to put up a run........yet" And what happens? The fukcing Marlins score 5 two out runs! /images/graemlins/mad.gif

Yes, you're right. The Braves announcers jinxed him. It has nothing to do with Mike Lowell's great at-bat or smoltz leaving pitches up in the zone. It's all Skip Caray's fault.

BTW. Anyone remember his first relief appearances? He got destroyed.

I've been a Braves fan ever since I can remember. My grandfather was a Braves fan and I watched games with him when I was a toddler. This was in the late 80s.

One of my first memories is crying after the 1993 NLCS.

Of course I am, what Jackoff doesn't seem to understand is that this isn't like getting your Aces cracked. Game 1 or 23 or 162, it doesn't matter. You can't play better later on and make up for the loss like you can in poker,ie, in poker you can be down 100$ and then win it back and be even. In baseball you'll always have the loss so it doesn't matter if it's the first or last game of the season.
