1) Center Street Apartments. Where I am right now
2) Bill Moore Tennis Center. Where I worked until last thursday when it shut down. That tit looking thing across the street is the Coloseum. I'm going to see Ludacris there for free on Thursday
3) All my ISyE classes are in this cluster of buildings
4) I pwn Reggie Ball in basketball here
5) This must be old because that looks like when they were adding on to the football stadium almost 2 years ago.
6) The shaft.

Ah nevermind, the downloadable Keyhole software costs money, but using it in Google maps does not.

It worked great until a few minutes ago, now I get no images, just maps. Too much demand?

The rural areas are not covered in as much detail. I tried to zoom into Foxwoods, but it doesn't zoom that far in. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

mmbt0ne
04-05-2005, 02:40 PM
I went through the desert looking for it, but couldn't find it. I did find some other hella desolate bases though. I would hate to live there with only the aliens to keep you company.

To find Area 51, start at Rachel, Nev. Find Groom Road. Go West.

Everybody lives in Vegas. Some (a very few) of the staff bus in from the surrounding countryside.

All of the green/black circles bother me more than the zoom restrictions over certain places. Google Maps is pointless if I can't use it spy on my own government.

there are a couple of interesting things about this service.

First, check out the White House (1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington DC). The roof has obviously been doctored. Remember mapquest used to have satellite imagery, too, just like this, and I remember seeing full details of the White House roof just before 9/11, and that it became blanked out the way it is now on keyhole shortly thereafter.

Pan over to Capitol Hill. Notice the decrease in resolution as you near the Capitol.

Also interesting, is how certain urban areas have much higher resolution than others. Compare Washington DC with Boston, for instance. You can easily make out individuals walking around Harvard Square, but it's not nearly so good in DC.

(All these comments refer to the software version of keyhole...I haven't tried the google one yet)

I just checked this out on google, and they give you MUCH higher resolution on the downloaded version of Keyhole. (which, btw, has a free 7-day trial period...it's definitely worth playing around with...very cool).

PokerNoob

You can get 2 meter resolutions of pretty much anything. The Russians don't care. You're not going to see anything terribly interesting on the ramp or the radar test pylons though.

I sodded my backyard 4 years ago this spring, but the satelite picture still shows dirt in my backyard.

www.streetmap.co.uk (http://www.streetmap.co.uk) has had free satellite images in the UK for some time. If google implement it here (which hopefully they will), I'd imagine it would be much better.

Where I live (can you tell it's England?):
