View Full Version : AA: Don't slow play them, you idiot!!!

Home game (8 players) PL, $5-5 blinds, $5 to call. Loose, aggressive game. Stacks range from $150-1000.

I'm dealt AA in MP. I decide to limp for $5 because the pots have been raised by cutoff/button almost 90% of time. Looking to reraise.

Much to my disappointment, it is merely called by everyone. (2 folders)

Flop: 3-3-5, two hearts (I have Ace Hearts).

Checked to me, I bet $35 (or whatever pot was).

BB calls. He is a very loose, but tricky player. Since he's the BB, he could easily have a 3, or two hearts. I have really no clue.

Turn: 9 of hearts, putting three hearts on the board.

He checks: Do I bet here? Of course, I bet Pot. About $110.

River: 3, giving me threes full of aces.

He checks, of course I go all in (only about $60), and he turns over case 3, to go with his unsuited 7. I don't know if I would have bet on the river if I had more chips - he had about $500 in front.

The whole time I sort of knew he had the 3, but in my stubborness and anger about not raising preflop (getting him to fold), I just decided to fire away.

Once again, w/AA you either win a little or lose a lot.

the only time it seems like a good idea to slow play aces is when you're the one who hasn't got it and get nailed by it!
