The "Ignore" tool

Do people know when you are ignoring them? Does the system send them a message or notify them in any way that they have been put on someones Ignore list?

No, normally it takes seeing this message. But at least you now know:

User has been ignored

You are now ignoring this user. You will no longer see the body of any of their posts

Also, sometimes this one:

LOL! I was reading that post yesterday but it is just getting too long!

I've seen people post that "You are now ignoring this user" but was wondering if it was automatic when they hit that ignore button or a post they made conciously.

I guess they want the "ignored party" to REALLY know they were being ignored.
