I recently had a federal jury panel of 45 people. Assuming the same criterea is used in future cases to draw future panels, how representative is my panel of 45? I don't know enough about this to form the question correctly, but what I am trying to find out is if my panel was 2/3 female, 60% "professional," factory worker's of x, etc, how likely are panels in the future to have the same demographics?

Assuming the potential panelist population is 3 million, am I better off looking at the demographics of the whole population to draw conclusions about future panels? Or does the one I actually reviewed tell me anything?

thanks,

i don't know how the panel comes about its existence

if it is chosen randomly i would say you have to look at the whole population

if it is chosen selectively then future panels chosen for the same purpose would probably be similarly constituted if the result gained from this panel was successful in the choser's eyes
