View Full Version : How would you have played it? Would you have played it?

MP1 was LAGgy, the raise could easily have been Ace dodgy kicker. SB was weak and had been knocked off a few hands. I felt I had the implied odds if I got my set and with the right flop could be ahead. Would you play this? Having called, what would you do after the flop?

I would have folded preflop because the SB also limped in. I'm not saying it was bad to call because you may hit your set and win a big pot. But, IMHO, because the SB also called the raise, I would be figure one of them may have a larger pair and they certainly have overcards to my 33.

I check/fold to any bet on the flop. I still have a fair amount of chips in relation to the blinds and I will look for a better spot.

I would also have folded preflop, but, and anyone please tell me if you think I'm wrong (or right), SB completing makes you more likely to call. The principle reason for playing 33 is to hit a set and if you do you need to get paid off, so it is better to have someone else in the pot. In fact, you would most like him to have AA.

This is very different that another recent post about JJ, where you would hope to win with JJ unimproved and want as few opponants as possible.

Yes, the more the merrier. I have a strict policy of only playing for the set due to past indiscretions, but I couldn't help thinking I could have bet and taken it down, especially with the paired board - T450 would have been handy. As it was I took the 'discretion being the better part of valour' route and wimped away to be weak tight another day.
