Cash game with blinds @ 15-30$ No limit sitting in the small blind w/ AJs. 6 player game. UTG pushes all-in(hyper loose aggressive player capable of pushing w/ nothing) w/ short stack of $550. Fold-fold-call from second chip position player(weak-loose newby fresh off of reading Phil Hellmuth's steaming pile of a book)After about a minute, I fold. BB folds. UTG turns over Q-9o , cutoff player turns over KJ. Damn. Nothing comes up. Would have taken a nice one. Any thoughts on my play here? Appreciate any input, and would appreciate it even more minus sarcasm or superiority. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Forgot to mention that the caller to the all-in had $1200 before calling, I had $1600.

Im not sure if there is a backhanded meaning to your recommendation of putting my question in the beginners questions. If not, I apologize for the comment, and ask how i go about re-posting.

I don't mean to be rude when I say this, but the answer should be easy. Folding AJ in a cash game to an UTG all in and a call, should be obvious. AJ is a weak hand in this situation. Don't worry that your opponents turned over worse hands than you this time. You shouldn't be results oriented. This game sounds juicy. Wait it out.

FWIW most posters on this forum are not going to give serious answers to questions like these. I figured that the best serious advice was in the beginners forum. I didn't mean to sound back handed.

Seriously. AJs is trash.

When you are playing against bad players, you don't do anything fancy. Just show them the nuts for all their money.

He risked $550 UTG to win $45 on a table where KJ called and AJ thought about calling with a caller behind him?
Be patient and keep playing that game.

that makes it look great, what are you talking about?

i'll take 2:1 odds on a coin flip ALL DAY.

The hand is a fold because it a very very weak hand vs. any premium hand, let alone two and given the all-in and the call you are going to up against a real hand far too many times for it to be profitable.

again, don't be results oriented.

I appreciate the candid response, along with the extra advice on the posting location. I felt the my fold was correct, but I notice most people on this site are very technical in their decisions, which I feel is my biggest area of improvement. You nailed it about the game being juicy, though. I did end up busting both players eventually /images/graemlins/grin.gif thanks again

Thanks both for your different approaches to answering my question. the only disagreement I have is taking a 2 to 1 bet for lots of chips, considering I run unlucky /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Where do you play? My mouth is watering at the thought of sitting down with your opponents.
