what is an "appropriate" sample to base my results on im currently achieveing a bb/100 of 6.1/100, from just under 10k hands, obviously this is too smaller sample but what are some goals to aim for, around 20k or 30k hands.

To know your rate within 1bb/100, you need to play 100,000 hands.

To know your rate within 0.1bb/100, you need to play about 2,500,000 hands.

That's within a 68% (1 sd) confidence interval I believe.

10k is a decent baseline.

On my first 11k hands at Party 5/1 I was 5.75bb/100... over my next 5k hands I broke even. These kinds of streaks are very common so you can't tell your true win rate until start getting into the hundreds of thousands of hands. The good thing is that with that kind of win rate over 10k hands you can *probably* say that you are a winning player and that's about it. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Not even close. In Aug I played 10K hands of 3/6 and broke even. In Sept I played 10K hands at 7.5BB/100.

10k is a decent baseline for most of the overall numbers. Things like VP$IP, PFR, Blind steals/defenses, WtSD, etc., start to firm up around that point (VP$IP actually firms up sooner).

For win rate, Moozh summed it up pretty well. You also need a huge sample to get any meaningful data out of your position & starting hand stats.
