What are the odds of 2 players making the same straight on the flop?

This is a difficult question to answer it would be easier if you narrowed your question down a bit. Obviously if you were to say you were dealt JT it would be relatively easy to determine the probability that someone else at your table was dealt a JT. It would be difficult to determine the probability that any two people at your table were dealt any two same random hands.

Given that you were dealt a 7-5 the probability that one or more of nine opponents was dealt a 7-5 is.

=9*(9/1326)-(9c2)*(9*4/1326/1225)= 6.109% or 1 in 16.4 hands

The probability your opponent sticks around to see the flop who knows.

The probability the flop comes 986, 864, 643 =

=3*(4*4*4)/(48 c 3) = 1.11% or 1 in 90.08 flops

The probability that given you have 7-5 your opponent gets 7-5 and flops a straight is.

=6.108%*1.11% = .0678% or 1 in 1475 times

Note some of those flops above would have two of your suit and some would have a straight flush.

TEKEE,

No problem but I do see an error I made, I used the wrong denominator in my first equation. Changing for five opponents it should have read:

= 5*(9/1225) - (5c2)*(4*9/1225/1128) = 6.61%

Chance of straight still

=3*(4*4*4)/(48c3) = 1.11%

Chance of event:

=1.11%* 6.61% = .073% or 1 in 1362

Highly unlikely.

Suits don't care about the numbers.
