Drove up to Foxwoods to play some events at the NEPC Friday morning.
Got in at about 8:00am and registered for the $500+65 Limit Holdem tourney.

Never saw too many hands and won w/ KK and JJ.
Was left w/ T1200 in 5th level when following hand came up. Blinds 75-150.
Hero in BB w/ 99, all fold to maniac chip leader in CO who pops it to 300. Short stack SB calls and I decide I am going to go w/ this hand and raise to $450. All call and SB is now all in. I know CO is weak, as he would have reraised w/ any decent holding.
Fop is 9 6 4 w/ two hearts. I bet 150 and CO raises and I re-pop it to 450 and get called.

Turn is an ace; I lead out and am all in w/ Villain calling. Cards are now turned up w/ Villain showing 5 7 clubs an open-ended str8t draw. Sure enough the 3 hits the river and get dismissed to the rail out in 160th of a field of around 360.

Later that evening I win an Act II, play the 9:30 Act III with them giving 3 seats. Some pros are in the super sat like Nick Frangos and Greg the Fossil man Raymer.
I get knocked out 16th nothing special, sweat and chat w/ Raymer and leave for bed at around 2:00 am. Greg told me the next day that he won the seat.

The next day everything I touch turns to gold.
I start out the day playing 20-40 limit holdem because the day’s event is stud 8 or better which I am not very proficient at. I meet Internet player Nixon02 and we chat a while laughing it up. The play is terrible and the swings are wild. My stack moves from –300 to positive 600 and finally cash out w/ a decent $300 win.

I go down to play an ACT II to win a seat to the 5:30 Act III which is the super sat to the main event next weekend and nail it. Now 2 for 2 in act II’s, sweet!

Played Act III w/ Raymer in again! You get the $5K cash after you win your seat.
He is knocked out before I move a chip; I guess you can’t win them all Greg.

Down to 3 tables and I am short stacked in BB. All fold to tricky sb who has me covered and limps and I check my 5 6. Blinds were 1-2K at this point and only had 4K behind.
Flop is 2 2 6. He leads out and bets my remaining 4K. Trapped? Did he have a 2, a 6? A bigger pair, Total steal? I decide to call as am short stacked anyways and he tables 10 6. All I need is a card higher than a 10 for a split. The turn is a 9, oops 1 more card or out.
The river is a beautiful 5, giving me the scoop. I went on to win a few hands later and eventually became the chip leader and won the Act III and my $5.2K buy in into the main event.

The next day has arrived and the $500+65 no limit event is ready to start w/ a sold out field of around 950 players.

I finally meet 2 plus 2 poster Toro before the tourney begins and we chat it up.
To make a very long good story short. The final table will be played the following day at 2:00pm. I have made the final table and am 2nd in chips. 1st will pay $130K.
Will provide full report of tourney after final table conclusion.

Holy shiit Pete, how the hell did you manage that? When I saw you at the break you were down to 750 chips. Very good lesson here for everyone. I was at 1500 chips at the break(we started with 1500) and was despairing because I couldn't get anything going and Pete was almost down to the felt and now has a good shot at the gold.

Good luck, go get em.

P.S. After I bust out, I see Spiro in the ante room playing a sng on Pokerstars on his lap top. I go up to him and tell him that's the sickest thing I've ever seen "playing poker on the internet while sitting in a Casino" and Spiro says surely that OJ killing his wife is sicker and I admit that yeah that's sicker.

Good Stuff Pete.

I expect a trip report with the details on how you bludgeoned the final table with your stack as they cowerd in fear trying to move up another peg in the payout ladder!
