Yeah I'm sure it is expected variance but all these 5-8 places in a row are driving me crazy. Can't get cards or a break it seems. Anyway, thoughts on this - MP1 has been pretty strong:

Hand 1: Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (7 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

Button (t1210)
Hero (t1085)
BB (t1865)
UTG (t425)
MP1 (t2715)
MP2 (t540)
CO (t160)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 4/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 4/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
1 fold, MP1 calls t100, 3 folds, Hero raises to t300, 1 fold, MP1 calls t200.

Flop: (t700) A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 9/images/graemlins/club.gif, 7/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets t900, Hero folds.

Final Pot: t1600

I had just been knocked out of two tourneys by Ace little where I couldn't shake them preflop. And wouldn't belive them post flop when the flop had an A.

Hand 2: CO is the same villain as before...Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (6 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

SB (t1810)
Hero (t510)
UTG (t1865)
MP (t250)
CO (t1745)
Button (t1820)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif, T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif.
2 folds, CO calls t200, 1 fold, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (t600) K/images/graemlins/club.gif, 4/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (3 players)
SB checks, Hero is all in for 310, CO calls t310, SB folds.

Turn: (t910) 9/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players)

River: (t910) 3/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players)

Final Pot: t910

Hand 1: You raised a "strong" limper with a small pocket pair out of position...why?

Hand 2: Push and pray he doesn't have a K. He did, move on.

You put yourself into these situations in both hands.

Hand 1: If you're going to play 44 here, just push preflop. Do you really want to play 44 out of position? If you are going to play it the way you did, then I think you probably need to push the flop. If you are convinced that he called you with an A and that he will not fold to your bet, you should check-fold. I would either push pre-flop or fold here.

Hand 2: Pre-flop, I am going to be all-in here. In fact, I am going to be all-in basically regardless of the action in front of me (barring something truly ridiculous of course...). 2/5 of your chips are in the big blind, you will pay 1/3 of your remaining chips next hand in the small blind (or another 1/5 of what you have now). You're not in some sort of battle to inch into the money, in fact, you are still 6-handed. Push and hope to double up (or triple up if the small blind decides to come along for the extra 300). The way you've played it, you are still going to put the rest of your chips in. Sorry if he had a K...

You'll live a charmed life if 12 OOTM is the worst thing you'll ever suffer playing poker.

Just take a deep breath, give yourself a hug, be thankful for the fact that you have a long time to improve your play and build your bankroll.

Or you pick up your keyboard and bludgeon your monitor, screaming "SERENITY NOW!"

Join the club -- just went 10 OOTM myself tonight, featuring such pre-flop all-in hits as:

AK vs AQ - Q on the flop
JJ vs 99 - runner runner 9s
99 vs 33 - 33 flops a set

You get the idea. For every 60/40 (or even 80/20), the low percentage has to come in at some point. It just sucks when they all seem to happen in a row.

I'm also a member. Currently I'm at 9OTM (and 11 of the last 12). The streak is nothing huge to complain about, except it is my first run this bad after about 115 tourneys (previous was 5OTM), so I need to learn to deal with them.

My favourite hand of the streak was the one where I pushed an AK9 flop with AK only to be called by 89. As i recall, the river gave him a set of 9's. That's when I saw the leprechaun, he told me to burn things.

I just pulled a record OOM stretch, for me anyway. 22, yes TWENTY TWO in a row. I was tilting some I'm sure, but it is still unbelievable. Luckily it followed a really good streak so I am still above even for the month.

Hand #1 seems like a terrible leak. The raise is pointless unless you plan to bluff on the flop (which would not be advised, given that you are up against a pretty good stack and are probably playing at a lower buy-in). MP1 is not going to fold for your raise. You kept the BB out of the hand, but you would want the BB in your hand if you hit your set.

Also, if you kept the pot small, you could more easily play the flop if you decided to get fancy (say, if rags hit, and the betting convinces you that you have the best hand).

I say it's a leak because of this comment:
