View Full Version : Hold'Em in Vancouver BC?

Hello all, I am planning to spend about a week in Van BC in the near future, and was wondering about the state of live poker there. I am looking for any Hold'Em games from 5-10 up to 20-40 or so. I have seen the Holiday Inn mentioned before on this site(10-20 I think?), and any other ideas would be great. If you have any player specific tips about a club, I would love to hear them. Thanks much,

TT

As of now the biggest legal game in the region is the 10-20 game at the "Holiday Inn Vancouver Centre" (on Broadway between Cambie and Oak).

Apparently another casino in town, the "Blue Boy", is launching a 10-20 holdem game on November 1. Currently they spread only 4-8. It's unclear what the rake will be at the Blue Boy's 10-20; they take $4 a pot from their 4-8. (The Holiday Inn rakes $3 a pot at 10-20, but does not comp drinks.) The Blue Boy is in southeast Vancouver somewhere -- too out-of-the-way for me to bother with. The staff at the Holiday Inn is somewhat concerned with the prospect of competition. I hope it will increase the level of service at the HI. Ideally the competition will push the HI to spread a higher-limit game like 15-30 or 20-40.

There might be some clubs spreading illicit holdem games in the region, but I wouldn't know anything about that.
