Ok, I thought there was a post about razor burn but I searched and found nothing.

Anyone know any tricks for ultra sensitive skin? I get razor burn way too easily. I'm thinking of giving up shaving all together.

Currently I am shaving right out of the shower first using Lectric Shave. I'm using I believe its gillete sensor 3 razors. I had one of those expensive M3 vibrating ones but someone stole it out of my bathroom (seriously). I just bought Clearasil for men shaving gel. I was using Nivea. I am still using Nivea aftershave cream.

It's gotten better but I still get it between my chin and mouth pretty bad. WHATS THE FAWKING SECRET?

ive recently moved to the full beard thing, much more convenient than shaving every day.

How about an electric razor?

I bought one about 2 years ago. It gave me razor burn. Apparently lift and cut burns me some how? Dont ask me.

Shaving sucks, if you can get away with it, don't do it. However, if you must shave, shave with the grain. Sure you can get a babysoft shave going the other way, but it just ain't worth it. Change your blade often (every 3-4 shaves). As for aftershaves/nivea, that [censored] will have me breaking out in rashes, so I don't use it. I go with a policy of shave every other day and always with the grain.

PS there are no secrets, I've been where you are. Though if you find some voodoo magic trick you better freaking PM me!

i think something that may help is to leave the shaving cream on your face for at least 5 minutes before you start shaving. also, i shave while actually in the shower but i don't know if that is that much better than just shaving after a shower.

make sure its the regular or the turbo. i just got the m3 power. and while its cool and vibrates; they put extra crap on the blades(moisturizer or something?) that makes it shave worse. so right now i shave with the power body with a regular blade.

like csc said shave with the grain, and if thats not close enough you can do a pass against the grain afterwards.

if you still have major problems, get a real shaving cream ~$15 bucks and will last you 3 months. ive had a lot more comfortable shave from the stuff. you can get it at a macy's cologne counter. lab series makes a cool one that numbs your skin before you shave.

Q: How can I stop razor burn?
A: You might need to tenderize (it's a better word than soften) your face a bit more prior to shaving - possibly even shave in the shower. You also may be pressing too hard or using a dull blade. Make sure to moisturize after.

SENSITIVE SKIN FORMULA
Some guys are a little more sensitive than others. Those who suffer from razor burn, bumps and irritation should try the following:

Necessary Ingredients: Jack Black Beard Lube, Zirh Prepare, Zirh Soothe

1. Apply Jack Black Beard Lube to warm/wet face
2. Rub a few drops of Zirh Prepare into face
3. Wait 15 seconds and splash a little warm water on face
4. Re-apply Jack Black Beard Lube on top of Zirh Prepare
5. Shave (for sticky spots, reactivate shave products with a spritz of water)
6. Post Shave, rinse face with cold water and generously apply Zirh Soothe

I always shave with the grain.

I guess it's hopeless. I'm just gonna have to go for the grizzley adamas look from now on.

There are oils you can get to put on preshave which may help you, not in the US so dont know what brands but it helps soften the stubble so may make it easier.

Theres also lots of post shave moisterisers as well rather than aftershave that actually soothe the skin.

Converting to electric helped me can get some over here now (Phillips) that had moisturising cartridges in that apply as you shave.

I bought one of those mirrors at the auto store that I keep in the shower.

If you shave against the grain, then you MUST always keep a very sharp razor and throw away razors once thet start getting dull. Otherwise your skin will get ticked at you...

I'm in the same boat. I've always gotten the burn. Try the Mach 3 Turbo. It's by far the best. The Blades are xpensive as hell but worth it. I haven't ever found any aftershave that helps me. Washing my face after shaving seems to help. That's why I shave in the shower.

1) Shower before shaving. Use a good exfoliating cleanser on your face while in shower.

2) I use a Mach 3 disposable razor. I find they are much better then the one with the replaceable blades. I alternate between shaving cream and a shaving gel.

4) I always rinse my face afterwards with warm water and then finish with cold.

5) Apply a good moisturizer to the face. I alternate between these two.

I shave against the grain every 3 to 4 days. If you shave everyday go with the grain.

I said metrosexual because I'm sure some would say that to spend $100 on this would be ridiculous, something a woman would do.
