Ouch.. crippled very early.

JJ in late position and 4 limpers at 10/20 blinds. I raised to 200 and the 2nd caller raised all in for 1200.

I think it's a pretty poor call. He shows QQ and I'm dying here.

Now down to 1050. My hot streak is over, I'm leading on every flop I play and behind on the river /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Won a big pot in the first 20 minutes to get to 2500 and haven't won one since. Took on a tilting short stack from the blinds with KQ. FLop K22 I checked he pushed and I called. He had A9. A rivered.

Knocked out of the 100 NL when my overpair ran into a set, the DS on Stars when my TPTK lost to a heart flush made on the turn. I had the Ah but no river saver. Been a dreadful week for tournaments and ring games. I can't wait for it to be over.

I've been card dead all tournament. And at loose calling tables, so every other steal attempt is called and the flop is bad enough for me to fold... Very discouraging.

Had Queens once, and AK flops. Great /images/graemlins/smile.gif Still somehow clinging to 2185 chips though.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you put him on a pair and the openender, he has nine outs (your As take away two of his outs), and you have a fair number of outs if he hits his straight, either to a better straight or to a boat if the A came (though if he trips up, you're screwed). Why would you fold in that case? It's hard to widen the range considerably - I'm not sure that most opponents would play a set this way (and you wouldn't be drawing dead against a set), KQ is the only realistic two pair I can think of - so I think your read is probably pretty good. This seems like a pretty clear cut call to me.

if he raises and you have a decent hand, lay it to him

also, let him bet, he is aggressive if you have a hand.

lol, i figured i can make him lay that down, but he's been tilting pretty bad the last 2 days...

i saw a couple of his step 5s yesterday while scouting them, and he was tilting nasty....

i figured i can make him lay down, his normal trash, i figured a stop and go would be appropiate as he raises with any 2 and i figure he would hit the flop like 1/3 of the time...

dfan
04-03-2005, 03:16 AM
The slow down is sort of a pain. On the other hand I kind of enjoy the sweet $$$ fantasies that keep dancing in my head.

I assume they wait for the other hands to finish so there is no reward for slow-playing each hand at the bubble?

Stipe_fan
04-03-2005, 03:30 AM
exactly, it makes it fair for all.

Some players start to slow play 30-40 out of the money. Now, that is asinine.

Good luck,

Stipe_fan

what is your name on party, dfan??

dfan
04-03-2005, 04:09 AM
Stipe, I just went out in the 100 to 120 slot. Folded to me on the button and I had about 4bb left, with K8o. Decided to push, hoping to double up and have a better chance of getting into the real money. SB folded, but BB called with A9. Not surprisingly he won the showdown.

What really killed me though was I had just paid the sb, bb, then I was moved to a new table and was seated in the bb again! Man that sucked...

Pacific did the same thing at a critical stage to me earlier today, except there it was worse. I was on the bubble and it went sb, bb, move table to sb! #@%#$%$! I am going to complain about that. My stack had been average going into the money in a 30K tourney before the double blinding. After that I had barely enough to place in the bottom money group.

They shouldn't move players if it means paying 3 or four blinds in a row, IMO. Is this accepted procedure?

I don't know if I want to reveal my Party handle just yet. I've only been playing since mid-January, and you guys would probably laugh your asses off after you looked me up in your PT histories! /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I see you are still alive, with only 76 left. Keep it up and gl!

Out in 62nd place.

I tried to reaise three limpers. I thought the large stack might call me and chanced it with 33. I would have been up to 50K in chips but am out. The risk/reward was definitely there. I really wanted to make the final table and thought the push was worth it.

Back to the tables again on Tuesday.

Congratulations Stipe and Lucky! I don't know whether you consider your finishes great, merely good, or even disappointing, but I do know that 1400 other players wished they had done as well.

BTW, can either of you (or anyone else) answer my question about whether it is acceptable/common for a site to move players when combining tables in such a way that the player ends up paying the blind for 3 or 4 consecutive hands? Or if this is an old question feel free to just steer me in the right direction. I just want to do my research before I complain to Pacific, and possibly Party, about this tomorrow, because it cost me oodles of real dollars when they sent me through sb, bb, sb, bb at 750/1500 today.

crookedhat99
04-03-2005, 07:31 AM
It's really no use complaining about stuff like that to the websites. They basically have the right to put you on a boat and sell you, and although they want to please their customers, they would have to change their software to adhere to your complaint...and unfortunately i'll bet they're not up for that.

Also, they could argue that it is completely fair, as long as there is an equal chance of leaving one table utg and getting at another table on the button, which I think is the case.

gl in tournaments to come

Stipe_fan
04-03-2005, 10:06 AM
I really don't consider my finish great. My goal, like most that post here, is to finish in the top 5 or so where they can a nice profit. FYIF, after winning the $650, I am net down in MTT about $70 for the week. So, I am not jumping for joy.

After I reassessed my play, the only mistake I made was the one that cost me all my chips. A fatal error since I was out when the smoke cleared. Otherwise, I played well tonight. I was able to push people when I needed to since my image was rock-like.

About complaining the way they break tables and place players. Don't bother. They can place you into the blinds 100 times in a row, if they so please. I am sure they use software to determine who gets placed where. Last night I was UTG and then placed in the between the button and the SB. I was dealt out of the hand but then did not post a blind for 18 or so hands.

We'll do it all again Tuesday night,

Stipe

Ok, thanks for the info Stipe and Crooked. I would have thought that they would have had table-combining software that did a better job of optimizing position placement relative to the blinds. Just doesn't seem that hard to develop a scheme that at least rejected table moves resulting in repeating a blind immediately. Maybe it is more difficult than I think or they just haven't bothered to do it.

Entered 4 multitable tournaments this weekend and last- 1 mil. and 30k at Pacific and 200k and 250k at Party. ITM for the first three. Almost all profit since I won qualifiers for both Party events on the first try. Paid full entry to the Pacific Mil. but came in high enough to win $1100. Not bad for someone who has been playing poker for 2 1/2 months and new to MTT (have played maybe 100 SNG's though). Oh, sorry, did I just pat myself on the back? /images/graemlins/grin.gif
