Hi, I'm new to this forum so forgive me if you don't find this hand particularly interesting! Anyway I get JJ in the very first hand (so we all have stacks of 1500):

Preflop: Hero is CO with J/images/graemlins/club.gif, J/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
2 folds, MP1 calls t20, MP2 calls t20, 1 fold, Hero raises to t120, 3 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 calls t100.

Flop: (t290) 7/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 3/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 6/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players)

Flop: (t290) 7/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 3/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 6/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players)
MP2 bets t300

was my raise ok preflop, and what now? I do want to be aggressive with Jacks if I am best, yet any raise would seem to risk a significant proportion of my chips. I'm always worried in such situations about the possibility I'm facing a higher overpair (or a set).

Thanks,

Gavagai

i dont think he has higher over pair (he would raise preflop) or set (he would try to milk instead of trying to take down the pot), I suspect he has a over pair (88-JJ) or TPTK with or without some draws.

Its fine.

Call the flop. If he has a set you're dead. If he limp called a bigger overpair you're dead. Don't worry about those cases and try to extract the maximum from an overpair less than your JJ.
