Mitch Hedberg... Really Gone?

Has anyone heard anything about this? I spoke to his booking agent and he wasn't able to give me any info on the topic. If you hadn't heard of Mitch until now he was in my opinion one of the funniest comics around. He was supposed to be coming to my town in a few months too. Bummer.
