Hi all. I'm looking for a resident SS NL expert (or semi-expert) who has some extra time on his hands to review a few thousand of my hands at 100 max NL and give me some pointers via e-mail.

I've been fairly succesful in limit play to this point. In fact 10/20 6-max is currently my sole income source and I have no complaints, but to spice things up I would like to enter the world of NL. I have jumped in for kicks a few times before but now I am serious about learning. I have read HOH and the Ciaffone/Reuben book. For preflop I am currently using MikeL's chart (thanks Mike).

I'll say that even though I'm not offering payment, it's a good opportunity for a skilled player to better his game while also bettering mine. I've been on the analyzing side before for limit play and it was a very educational experience. It's true what they say: you don't truly know a subject until you can teach it.

Feel free to post a reply or send a PM if you have any interest. Thanks.

1st, Good luck.

2nd, You can almost certainly beat higher buy-in games than the 100 on party based on what I know of your overall poker skill. I started playing pot limit recently and I have done very well in the 2-4 with no experience at other buy-ins.

3rd, If you want, I will e-mail you some material on PL/NL that helped my game immensely.

Is this something you'd rather not post on the forum for everyone?

It was given to me by a friend and I think it would be a breach of trust to mass distribute it. Otherwise, I would.

i think that is what CK was alluding to.
Why mention it when you will have mass pm's asking for it /images/graemlins/smile.gif

After reading Jeff's post and looking at the games a bit I have decided to log some hours at the 2/4 PL on Party. I have the bankroll and it looks like it will be more worth my while financially. Plenty of bad players here.

Thanks to those who sent me helpful PM's. I'll get back to you soon.

Wow! I am honored to mentioned in the same paragraph. Thank
you.

I, too, have transitioned from limit to NL. Limit,
especially low limit, if VERY formulistic. You
could easily write a computer program to play
low limit and show a profit (IF this THEN do this...
ELSE do this...).

Besides TIGHT pre-flop play in SSNL, the biggest gains in
profitability, for me, has come from learning how
to answer this question: "What does THIS bet mean for
THIS particular player?" In low-limit, that is really
irrelevant. In NL, knowing what type of player you
are up against and what their betting patterns mean is
VERY important.

So far, I am not able to squeeze much out of TAG type
players, so I pretty much avoid them without strong
hands. I am getting a better hold of LAG players, but
I still get burned a bit too often. But in the kiddie
pools, you can pretty much avoid both of these players
and STILL have a very profitable group of players
(buddies!) to finance your game.

Someone REALLY needs to write a book on low-buying
(SSNL) cash/ring game for NL. Not just have a measly
chapter appended to their NL Tournament book.

Regards,
Mike L.

I understand Sklansky is coming out with one shortly. I'm definitely looking forward to it.
