It's a common misconception that the thumbs down was the sign to kill the guy. In actuality, thumbs down meant let him live, thumbs up meant kill him. Which actually makes more sense. It's like thumbs up means "Yes, kill him," while the thumbs down means "No, don't kill him."

Oh, and for the record, I *did* have a 10 minute phone call in between the searches. But yeah, 13 minutes to find a pic is pretty damned lame. I am ashamed and will commit sepuku. Who here will chop off my head if I make a sound?

his is what I heard also. Makes sense when apparently, thumbs up meant : send him to the gods (ie kill). thumb down meant take himn back down to the cells or dungeons or whatever (ie let him live)
