With the recent computer problems I've had, I ended up having to get everything cleaned off and starting over.

Now everything seems to be working fine, except my speakers.

Dell 2400 computer. 2001fp monitor. and the clip on speaker that attaches to the monitor.

I've tried taking the speaker off, then re-attaching. rebooting. I've tried other speakers with the computer. No sound.

Any help greatly appreciated. Remember, talk slow! /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I'm going to assume that thi sis not an April's Fools joke and bite.

Your speakers should be plugged into the back of the computer. unplug it. plug in a headphone. Do you get sound? If so, throw away the speakers and get a new pair.

If not, it is your soundcard (on board or separate card). It could be that you don't have the right driver installed. Or that it is simply toast.

I tried the headphones. No good.
The speakers were fine before I had the computer cleaned off and reinstalled everything (I don't know the proper terminology of this).
So I'm guessing its the driver. Is there a place to find and install the proper driver?
Let me see if I can find a link to the speaker I have.

Thanks for your help.

Make sure your sound is not turned down or muted. Go to control panel/sound.

Thank you,

If you don't have the volume control in your taskbar there is no driver installed. If it's there, double click it and make sure you're not muted. Failing that, call Dell. That's why you bought a brand name computer /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks to all that responded. For some reason, the driver was not installed.

I put the drivers and utilities cd in, and found the audio driver.

Working fine now! /images/graemlins/smile.gif
I never knew how much I relied on the sounds at Party untill they were gone!

Thanks again,
JTrout
