when was the time period in your life when you had the most fun overall? do you think you'll ever match or top it?

for me it was undergrad. hanging out with good friends constantly, lots of hot girls, relatively few responsibilities...it was nearly non-stop fun. i honestly don't think i'll ever match it /images/graemlins/frown.gif

For me its now. Im relatively young. (42 old to most of you) Unattached. (divorced) Ive got a great kid. (eight y/o son) Forty year old women are great (they don't play games, they know what they want and they know what they are doing) The job is on autopilot. (no need to struggle I put in my 9 to 5 and pick up my paycheck.)

Im not rich but I am not living paycheck to paycheck either and I can pretty much do what I want.

Life is good.

yes, college, undergrad. I was in a band at the time as well. So yeah, 1996-2000, it's been all downhill since then. Thanks for the depression Lucas.

It was either college or the first 3 or so years of working immediately afterward. I worked for a small startup and the crop of young, out-of-college recruits that I worked with became a pretty close group.

Age 20 to 23 it was a totally awsome time in my life, Not that it isnt awsome now, Except I could bounce back a little better then. I actually have a job now that I have to be awake and alert for. So Sun-Thur nights are shot.

I was also single then so life was full of new ass every 2 weeks not that I dont love the constant ass I have now but strage always has that new and exciting element to it.

I see your point, I felt a bit bad about posting it, I didn't think it was as bad as you seem to though, maybe I was wrong.

I didn't take it personally. Maybe if my life really was [censored] and I was trying to convince myself I would have. Spam has a sarcastic sense of humor and a little bit of an edge. (ok alot) That's ok We are all different.

Its a toss up, right after I graduated HS, I came out of my shell somewhat, started getting hyoooge and in shape (i was pudgy in HS), and started hanging out w/ my best friends older sister (whom I worked with) and her hot hot hot friends (I was 17/18 they were 23-24). Started bar hopping, learning more about girls than I could ever want, and basically received an education on women. It was a blast going into a bar, underage, with 4 smokin hot chicks as your escorts, but I was a little brother type to them, and only got to make out with a few of em. Otherwise, right now is FUKIN great, Im in school 2 nights a week, play poker for a living, and can do anything or go anywhere any time I want, cept for mon and tues nights. I pay basically no rent, because my family owns my apartment building, and Im in hte process of looking for a new car (Lincoln LS). Plus, I now have time to get not teh suck at golf.

the first time I went on the road with a band when I was 19 was fun. I toured with them for a year and a half and it was of the best decisions I've ever made. I've done a bunch of tours with different groups since then and it's always been a hell of a good time. there are lots of ties for the best times in my life, I'm pretty sure getting married will be up there as well.

apparently I didn't have nearly as much fun as everyone else in undergrad. I worked/went to school and was extremely serious/obsessed about something not related at all to my "field". I never slept and spent every waking moment either working, gigging, studying or practicing. most of my fond undergrad memories are from gigs I played.

about two years after I got out of the Marine Corps the tech bubble was in full swing.

I got on with a great company making mad loot.

Did a 15 month stint up in Bloomington Ill at a large insurance company.

I was making $75k a year, single, no apartment or house, (all my stuff was in storage still back home) Saab 95 rental car for free, my condo was paid for by the company, and they paid for every meal throughout the week. My average work week was kinda hellish, but I was still young enough to work the 11 or so hours a day and then party til 3-4 in the morning and get up and do it all over again.

I imagine I blew through about $100k in booze alone in that short time. Awesome. There are some fine honeys hanging around ISU too. Plus heading to Chicago every weekend was awesome as well. Loved it.

Life goes on.

My first couple months living in Spain and traveling abroad.

Within a couple of months I got to run with the bulls, go to ibiza, kayak down the biggest river in spain, travel to 5 different cities, meet Spanish girls, get to to know American girls better, meet some truly cool people, and learn a new culture that I ended up loving.

No doubt, my sophmore year of college.

Senior year of high school. I switched schools at the last year and had all my credits done except for two. My days were spent smoking weed, selling weed, and having sex with hot high school chicks. All with no bills or responsibility.

Senior year of High School.

Close to absolute freedom, next to zero responsibilities. Constant sex with hot and horny girls. Oh to be 18 again.

And it isn't even close.

Chalk up another one for senior year of High School. I went to High School out of state (I lived in northern NJ and went to an all-boys prep school in the Bronx), and was kinda shy in the beginning of High School. Well, maybe not shy, but I was kinda nerdy, probably smoked pot too much and just basically wasn't anything special. Around the middle of my Junior year, I really came out of my shell. I got involved in everything, knew everybody, y'know, typical varsity track captain, editor of the newspaper, honor student stuff. I [censored] pwned that place.

Anyway, since I went to an all-boys school, I was kinda awkward around girls, not like freakishly so, I just didn't have any game. Then one day, I got an IM from this girl I hadn't talked to since like 8th grade. I hadn't kept in touch with too many of my grade school friends, and the ones I did keep in touch with I saw once a month tops. Anyway, this girl was awesome. Hanging out with her, every night was a party. She wasn't too cute but her friends were bangin. Then through her, I met tons of other people, and every night I had a different party to go to, new people to hang out with, new girls to screw around with, it was awesome.

Plus since it was my senior year, I didn't have that whole "school" thing hanging over my head, so it I had 0 responsibilities, and my parents realized that I was going to school in the fall, so I had 0 limits. Man, that was amazing.

Honeymoon late 2002 until present. Moved to Thailand with my wife and only a pair of backpacks. Island hopped for 2 months in the Andaman sea, got a hut in the mountains for another couple months, then settled in Chiang Mai to write for a cool magazine about Burma issues. Great house in the jungle, good friends, low stress work and constantly trying new things as well as learning a new language and culture. Downside was my wife's friend got cancer and she came back home to be with her, so I was there solo for a while. Had its upside, but it was tough for a newleywed couple.

Back to Seattle to my beautiful wife, killer apartment, same great friends and now (finally) a decent job makes life still excellent.
