According to the schedule, tonight will be another 20/40 broadcast. If it's like the one last Saturday, we may get the return of David and Jana, the Bickersons. For those that were there, it had it's moments, at least when Tony, the calling station in the 9 seat, was in the hand. It also was the first viewing of a near jackpot moment, except that 20/40 doesn't have a jackpot, and it was only quads v 10's full of Aces. Anywho, will be interesting to see how tonight goes, maybe I'll even stay up to watch the whole thing.

UPDATE:

I heard from a very reliable source that it won't be 20/40 tonight, but it MAY be a return of the high limit (400/800) game or a $500 NL game.

Kevin...

UPDATE #2:

No high limit game, either the 200 or 500 NL game tonight.

Kevin...

You sure? I was going to call Tim and see what they're spreading. I may swing by to play the 20/40 if that's what's going on.

Kevmath

I've spoken to the very reliable source, they told me it would be a NL game.

Kevin...

You are correct, it's $200 NL tonight. Bleh.

Um, am I the only one creeped out by Bart's opening? His head movements and lack of any other movements make me think he's either a robot or a serial killer.

Kevmath
03-31-2005, 10:03 PM
First comment of the night: Why not do a rotating opening credit with Tuch, Shirley, Jana, Jennifer and the other regular commentators?

Kevmath
03-31-2005, 10:05 PM
I agree, he does look really uncomfortable doing the read. I hope his acting audtions went better than that.

Since I think Santa Anita's in the vicinity of the Bike, Danny the jockey only had one mount today, in the first race if this is the same Danny Bart's talking about.

Kevin...

Russ McGinley
03-31-2005, 10:11 PM
Bart needs to see it right away, then go to the producers or whoever and ask for what we call in the biz a "reshoot".

Also, this show has been running for how long, and they still struggle to get cards right? Hole cards I can see since players sometimes don't keep the cards over the screen, but what's the excuse for having the board wrong?

Jive Dadson
03-31-2005, 10:14 PM
I hope no one gets his hand near seat six's face. A man could lose a finger.

Kevmath

Maybe Bart needs to put on his glasses, but I agree how can you screw up the board the cards are right there for you to see.

You are obviously not cool enough.

Haha, actually I don't know. Changing the subject, they bring in Roy Cooke, and I figured he'd be babbling about CP or something, but he's doing PBP? Why? I guess having 23 announcers for a 4-hour, 4-day-a-week show isn't enough?

Good thing Bart isn't here. The guy slow plays a set of aces, then lets himself get bluffed off the pot when a third heart comes.

There's yet another reason to not slowplay your aces, especially if you hit a set on the flop.

After table talk, it'll be Bart and maybe 1/2 of the Bickersons, Jana. Can't wait to see what she would've said on that play.

Kevin...

thedrunk
03-31-2005, 11:39 PM
Well he tried to make a great laydown. But yes, this was about the worst poker you can play. He could have played stronger and gotten played back at with the 2 pair. But he slowplays it to death and gets bet out of the pot. Then shows his cards. It doesnt get much worse.

This table is awful. Throwing away top set? Throwing away TP2K?

Jesus, if you won't call an all-in with AQ when you hit your ace, don't bother playing AQ.

Russ McGinley
03-31-2005, 11:41 PM
Funny that Bart said he wanted to keep a count of the times someone would slowplay trips or sets on the flop and how bad he thinks of it.

Kevmath
03-31-2005, 11:43 PM
Maybe Daxon only wanted to take 1 shot at the 200 game, since he mentioned that he would've come down to play some 20/40 earlier in this thread and prefers limit. But it was played pretty poorly, and to show it down makes it even worse unless he's gonna set him up later on, then it's a genius move.

That AA hand made me throwup in my mouth. If you're gonna play AA about as badly as possible, and then throw them away, don't show them!

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree!

The hand wasn't too badly played postflop (slowplaying here looks like two pair), but the preflop action totally didn't match up. If you look I actually make the mistake of looking and checking very quickly, almost instinctively. I had A4, and checked. Wait, what was that? Oops, AA, but I had already checked. Checking AA out of the BB with about 5 limpers is about the worst play in poker. Therefore, I knew ahead of time that unless I had an opportunity to put a lot of money in on the flop, I was going to get away from the hand.

I flopped top set and checked it, hoping to checkraise, but no one bet and now I'm stuck with a $25 pot on 4th. I bet out small and got called by far too many, and when the river comes three-to-broadway three-to-flush I bet out small again and have no problem laying it down, even if I'm not beat. It's a small pot and a good bet on his part. I'm embarassed to have checked preflop but all things considered I think that the end result wasn't horrible ($40 bucks or something).

I was pretty sure all his talk (I don't know if you could hear it) indicated:

A) He had the flush and was telling me so.

B) He didn't have the flush and wanted me to think A).

C) He did have the flush, and wanted me to think he was representing B).

I actually decided that it was somewhat like 60/40 in favor of C and given the amount of money I had put into the pot, opted to fold. Bad laydown, sure, but you guys get to see all the cards, and I had virtually no read on him at this point. Later on I was looking for a place to play with him, but he left the table shortly after winning a couple monsters.

For anyone interested, I ended up winner $300 (I doubled 2x almost back to back after the cameras went out).

I didn't get to see any preflop action or hear any comments because of the announcer babble, but it is interesting to note that Bart has, several times, admonished players for slowplaying sets/trips. I think a better line would have been to throw that $25 "feeler" bet on the flop. You have a monster, but by are no means invulnerable. You almost certainly would have been played back at by villain's bottom two, and then you could have proceeded however you liked. While you are correct that you only "lost" about $40 on the hand or whatever, you actually could have very easily taken all of villain's chips at any point in the hand.

Also, if you can remember, can you elaborate on seat 5 (the little jockey) and the table talk after his 1-chip raise? Him and seat 3 were jibba-jabba'ing but Bart was yet again babbling about something and we missed it.

Daxonovitch
04-01-2005, 06:03 AM
Sure-

It was limped around to him, who tossed in one white ($100) chip. He had just scooped a big pot and had literally dozens of yellow chips in front of him, but no one (but *possibly* seat 4) heard him verbalize anything. Seat 3 wanted it to be a call, as did I (to some extent, with my suited connector, I believe). The floor came over, and seat 5 made a convincing enough argument that it was a raise (given that he had piles of yellows in front of him - if he wanted to just call he would have tossed one of those in). The dealer didn't hear anything, so it was essentially seat 5s word (that he heard him say raise) versus the dealer and the 7 other players at the table who heard nothing.

Eventually we just let the fool's raise stand and we all folded to his rather obvious large pair (he showed aces). He took it personally and started yelling at seat 3, and when he was dealt AK the next hand, practically shouts RAISE and slams $45 into the pot.

Ah, the drama.

Russ McGinley

The table continues just as a normal $200NL table for as long as people want to play. I made a set of kings that was the mortal nuts, and pushed a guy off a hand preflop with JJ, didn't play much else. I left after the table became a relative rock garden.
