I'm fairly new to 20+2 SNG's. I need a little "philosophy"

1. Level 5 of tournament. 6 left, the dummies are gone.
2. I'm middle stacked, nobody too large or too small.
3. Nobody a maniac or complete rock.
3. First 2 fold to me. I have 77,88 or 99.

What do I do? I tend to either get clobbered, or win very little.

You haven't done enough reading here, the best way to play these pairs are to flop a set and river quads. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Ok, a more concrete example would help, level 5 can mean different things at different sites. At Party level 5 is 100/200. If it's 6 handed an average stack is 1300 or so. I don't think you can limp, because are you going to call an all in behind you? A min raise is 1/3 of your stack, are you really going to fold to a reraise after putting in 1/3 of your stack? I'm going to push these and hope to take the blinds or get called by Ax and win the coin flip. Sure, if there is a bigger pair behind you it's too bad. I think you have to push.

I was referring to the 50/100 level. I usually push here. Win 150. Big deal.

if my stack is under 8BB, i almost always push. 9-10 BB I either push, or if the table and the BB are tight i might raise 2.5-3 BB and try to steal the blinds without risking my entire stack incase someone got delt a monster. Over 10 I would either raise or limp, depending on the situation, but more likely raise.

If you win very little a lot of the time, does that make up for the few times you get clobbered?

The Two Rules of Power Poker

(1) When in doubt, PUSH!

(2) When in doubt, FOLD!

I push with 77 trying to avoid a call. I raise 3-4xbb with 99 hoping to get called. I then push the 99 on the flop with almost any flop (maybe not 3 overs or 2 overs with an A).
